The Pinkham Way AllianceĀ is a community campaign group which came together in early 2011 when a small number of people living in the vicinity of an ecologically valuable green space at a site just south of the A406 and to the north of Muswell Hill, known as Pinkham Way, began to realise the scale of the NLWA's proposals to build a 300,000 tones per annum MBT waste plant on that land, and decided to oppose these plans.

We now have well over 3000 supporters and rising. Our membership is drawn largely from the areas that the plant will most seriously effect - Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. We collaborate with many local groups and politicians, but are not aligned to any political party.

As our understanding grows so we come to realise that the impact of the plans goes far beyond the despoiling of a locally important site for nature conservation. This impact reaches beyond the three Boroughs closest to the Pinkham Wood site, it will have implications for the very long term finances, and hence Council services provided, to the 1.7m residents in all seven North London boroughs who make up the NLWA. It has become a much wider fight and one where with each day we increasingly believe we have it right and the NLWA have it badly wrong.
