Between now and early 2015, Haringey are deciding an underlying planning designation for the Pinkham Way woodland site that’ll be in place for a couple of decades.

The Pinkham Way Alliance (PWA) response to the Council’s opening consultation about this designation urges them to recognise that the site is green, open space unsuitable for industry or employment, and to make the most of its high conservation value.

To help illustrate to the Council how the site could be treated in the future, we have used professional help to prepare an outline Site Management Plan. A work in progress, it will show, in line with standard DEFRA criteria, how the site’s value can be protected and enhanced by proper management. In this way, the site would remain a real asset to the surrounding community and boroughs.

If you’ve never been to Pinkham Way, you can catch a glimpse of its wild beauty in our photo gallery.

You may also like to consider this community-run ‘wildspace’ in nearby Winchmore Hill. Started off by a dozen people in 2003, more than 100 are now involved. It’s not a piece of land or planning history with close similarities to those of Pinkham Way, but it’s worth a look nevertheless.

OUR SIGN-UP FORM TO VOLUNTEER HAS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO VOLUNTEERED.

We may ask for more volunteers in the future if we get closer to making this happen.
